The present Thesis addresses objectives of the teaching process at school with stress being put particularly on their importance. The aim of the Thesis has been to undertake a survey of the existing situation and to find out what importance is attached by teachers of technical subjects to objectives of teaching, whether any teaching objectives are set by the teachers at all and, if so, in what scope the teachers work with the objectives. Focus of the teachers when setting objectives on cognitive, psychomotor or affective objectives has been investigated and importance of the objectives to students' motivation to learn have been evaluated. In the introductory part, attention has been paid to the present importance of the objective in the teaching process, arrangement of teaching objectives from different standpoints and definition of specific objectives. The Thesis continues with a survey undertaken in terms of questionnaires intended for both the teachers and the students at three secondary technical schools located in the Levice District. Five hypotheses have been established, out of which three have been proved. By analysis of survey results, it has been found out that both the teachers and the students attach great importance to teaching objectives. Not all the teachers are directed evenly on knowledge, skills and attitudes of the students. Majority of teachers set specific teaching objectives, some of them, however, omit important steps when setting objectives and only a small part of teachers use taxonomy of the objectives. An assumption has been proved that creative teachers are able to easier set teaching objectives. Knowing the teaching objective is very important to students' motivation. Contribution of the Thesis consists in measures proposed for the practice such as education activities, workshops aimed at proper definition of teaching objectives or teaching aids able to make easier definition of specific objectives. Results of the survey obtained are also of importance and should serve to schools as a sort of self-reflexion.
